Representing and Coping with Recurrent Change in Dynamic Constraint Satisfaction Problems

چکیده

In many cases, constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs) are dynamic, so that changes can occur that invalidate the current solution. If such changes are temporary and recurrent, it may be possible to nd solutions that are less likely to be lost following a given change. (We call these stable solutions.) In this paper we compare the standard dynamic CSP model that we have used in the past with a static probabilistic model; we show that the former is more adequate for representing recurrent change and better suited to searching for solutions that are also stable. Using the dynamic CSP model, we compare two approaches to nding stable solutions that estimate either the likelihood of change in speciic problem elements or the relation between assignments and solution loss, and show how viable techniques can be obtained in both cases (although the former were generally superior in the situations tested).

A Markovian Model for Dynamic Constraint Processing

Dynamic constraint satisfaction is a useful tool for representing and solving sequential decision problems with complete knowledge in dynamic world. We propose an extension of the dynamic constraint satisfaction framework so as to represent stochastic events in sequential decision making. The basis of this extension consists in modeling evolution of the dynamic constraint satisfaction problem b...

Dynamic Constraint Satisfaction in Configuration

Configuration tasks exhibit dynamic aspects which require extending the basic constraint satisfaction framework. In this paper we give a new, well-founded and relatively simple definition of such dynamic constraint satisfaction problems (DCSP). On the basis of the definition, we show that the decision problem for DCSP is NP-complete. We also show that although the complexity of DCSP is the same...

A Comparison of Traditional and Simple Evolutionary Hill-Climbing Methods for Solving Static and Recurrent Dynamic Constraint Satisfaction Problems

In this paper we compare the performance of Minton’s et al. min-conflicts hill-climbing (MCHC) algorithm [16], Wallace and Freuder’s MCHC algorithm [25], Morris’ breakout algorithm (BA) [17, 18], and modified variants of the BA that we developed on static constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs) and recurrent dynamic constraint satisfaction problems (rDCSPs). Also, we used a simple evolutionary ...

Dynamic Frailty and Change Point Models for Recurrent Events Data

Abstract. We present a Bayesian analysis for recurrent events data using a nonhomogeneous mixed Poisson point process with a dynamic subject-specific frailty function and a dynamic baseline intensity func- tion. The dynamic subject-specific frailty employs a dynamic piecewise constant function with a known pre-specified grid and the baseline in- tensity uses an unknown grid for the piecewise ...

Incremental Adaptation of Constraint Handling Rule Derivations ?

Constraint solving in dynamic environments requires an immediate adaptation of previously evaluated solutions of constraint satisfaction problems if these problems are changed. After a change, an adapted solution is preferred which is stable, i.e. as close as possible to the original solution. A wide range of incremental constraint solving methods for dynamic nite domain constraint satisfaction...
